Clinton, IOWA – According to the Clinton Police Department, this incident occurred on Saturday.
It happened on 31st Ave North.
Clinton Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire.
The responding crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
A deceased 41-year-old man was found inside the apartment and the Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Clinton Medical Examiner, Clinton County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Attorney General’s Office and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner launched a criminal investigation.
The victim was later identified as Dustin Doran.
An autopsy was performed and the State Medical Examiner has ruled the manner of the victim’s death a Homicide.
On Wednesday, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations and the Clinton Police Department arrested 30-year-old Trevor Ward.
He is now charged with murder in the first degree and arson in the first degree.
