Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, this incident occurred right before 9 p.m. Friday.
It happened on 32nd Street NE.
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and led the officer on a short chase.
The responding officer then tried to approach the suspect’s vehicle, which then turned at and accelerated toward the officer.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle then hit the officer, who then fired their weapon at the vehicle as it left the area.
The suspect stopped the vehicle at the end of 34th Street NE and ran away.
The responding officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
