Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, Governor Kim Reynolds signed the 2.5% per-pupil increase in House File 2316, which increases the total public education budget for the state by $159 million. State officials have announced that the total outlay in the fiscal year 2023 budget will exceed $3.6 billion. Total per-pupil funding will now be just over $7,400, up from $7,200 previously. Dallas County, IOWA – Waukee Police Department officials said this 26-year-old woman was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday. Her name is Jessica Koeniguer-Law and she is now charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury of mental illness. Officials said Koeniguer-Law was taken into custody after she reportedly her boyfriend with a fork and cracked his windshield. This incident occurred around 8:09 p.m. Wednesday. Cedar County, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. It happened on Interstate 80 near mile marker 274. Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash. The responding troopers discovered that semi-truck broke through the cable barrier, crossed into the eastbound traffic and struck Ford F-150 head-on. The 71-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Steven Dolezal. Princeton, IOWA – Scott County Sheriff’s Office said this incident occurred right before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. It happened at the Princeton Wildlife Area Gun range on 286th Avenue. The responding deputies found one adult male victim. Police said the man suffered a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
