Albia, IOWA – According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate accident occurred around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
It happened on 160th Street, northeast of Albia.
Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash involving Amtrak train and garbage truck.
The responding deputies found two victims.
They say the garbage truck driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene.
The train’s engineer suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
