Nevada, IOWA – According to the Nevada Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 6 p.m. Thursday evening.
It happened at 10 Maple Lot 101.
Nevada Fire Department crews responded to a report of a mobile home fire.
The responding crews discovered that the occupant of the home was the initial 911 caller.
When they arrived on scene, they saw heavy smoke coming from the home.
The occupant was not located outside the structure.
The first arriving engine crew engaged in an aggressive fire attack into the home.
The same crew rescued one occupant from the burning home, officials said.
The occupant was transported by ambulance to a Des Moines Trauma Center where the condition remains unknown.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Other responding agencies included: Colo FD, Cambridge FD, Story County Sheriff Office, Story County Sheriff Dispatch, Nevada Police, and Story County Medical Center Ambulance.
