Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Leon-Laquan Dwyone Simpson and he was taken into custody on Thursday.
The 20-year-old man is now facing a felony charge of control of a firearm by a felon and an aggravated misdemeanor charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
The incident occurred on Jul. 18, 2021.
It happened in the area of East Dover Court and Grand Avenue.
Davenport Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.
The responding officers reportedly found five shell casings in the street at the scene of the shooting.
Prosecutors said that two shell casings were later found on top of the vehicle Simpson was driving at the time of the shooting.
The shell casings found on scene matched the shell casings found on top of the vehicle, the prosecutors said.
The 20-year-old suspect reportedly admitted he discharged a semi-automatic pistol in the general direction of another person with the intent of provoking fear in that person.
