Local resident pleads not guilty to charges stemming from August

Davenport, IOWA – His name is Hunter Robert Jones IV and he is charged with four felonies.

Prosecutors say the 25-year-old defendant is charged with: first-degree criminal mischief; first-degree robbery; second-degree theft and second-degree eluding.

He is also charged with 3 misdemeanors: disobeyed traffic device, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident.

Jones demanded his right to a speedy trial, court documents say. This incident occurred on Aug. 5, when the defendant assaulted the owner of an SUV and drove away.

He allegedly got into the victim’s SUV and demanded money. He told the victim he had a gun. He then punched the victim several times in the face, told the victim to get out of the vehicle and continued punching him until the victim ran away.

The victim had visible injuries and he was taken to a hospital for treatment. He needed several stitches and would have a permanent scar near his eye. The suspect tried to escape, but was quickly arrested. He was taken to Scott County Jail.
