Maquoketa, IOWA – Maquoketa Fire and Rescue officials said this unfortunate incident occurred right after 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
It happened on Pleasant St.
Maquoketa Fire/Rescue crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire.
The responding crews discovered that the attic was fully involved and saw heavy fire coming out the front windows and door.
After several hours it was determined to bring in an excavator to tear down the house for the safety of the firefighters.
No one was injured and three dogs were rescued.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
