The Marion Parks and Recreation Department announced a new traveling movie program known as “Movies on the Move”

Marion, IOWA – According to the city officials, the events are free and open to the public.

City officials have announced that between May and September, on the third Tuesday of the month, the department will bring an outdoor movie to select Marion neighborhood parks.

Ladies and gentlemen, the movies are scheduled to begin around 8 p.m.

People are encouraged to bring chairs/blankets to the park for lawn seating. Outside food and drink are permitted.

The movies titles, dates and locations for the 2022 season are:

  • Tuesday, May 17 featuring “Grease” at Butterfield Park, 3500 29th Ave.
  • Tuesday, June 21 featuring “Grumpy Old Men” at Thomas Park, 343 Marion Blvd.
  • Tuesday, July 19 featuring “Little Big League” at Peg Pierce Complex, 273 31st St.
  • Tuesday, August 16 featuring “Hook” at Taube Park, 2200 31st St.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 20 featuring “Back to the Future” at Hanna Park, 775 Fairview Dr.

NOTE: Marion’s parks are proud to be smoke-free, nicotine-free and tobacco-free.
