Cedar County, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
It happened on Interstate 80 near mile marker 274.
Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding troopers discovered that semi-truck broke through the cable barrier, crossed into the eastbound traffic and struck Ford F-150 head-on.
The 71-year-old driver of the Ford F-150 suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead.
He was later identified as Steven Dolezal.
Passenger in the Ford F-150 suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the semi-truck also suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
This incident remains under investigation.
