Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, his name is Lawrence McGhee and he was arrested early Monday morning.
The 29-year-old man now faces a felony charge of eluding; operating while under the influence and possession of controlled substance – marijuana, court records say.
This incident occurred right after 1 a.m. early Monday morning.
It happened in the 1000 block of Mound Street.
Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.
The responding officers saw the vehicle leaving the area and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle failed to stop after multiple siren chirps and continued northbound on Jersey Ridge.
The vehicle then came to a stop and the 29-year-old driver began to run north.
He was arrested and taken into custody.
The responding officers reportedly found about 20 grams of suspected marijuana and an open 750 ml whiskey bottle in plain view in the front seat of the car.
This incident remains under investigation.
