Linn County, IOWA – According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred right before 4 p.m. Wednesday.
It happened on County Home Road east of North Troy Road.
Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle head-on collision.
The responding deputies discovered that Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on County Home Road when it collided head-on with a Subaru Outback which was traveling westbound.
The 33-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Jetta suffered serious injuries and was flown to the University of Iowa Hospital by AirCare.
She was later identified as Nina Smith.
The Subaru was occupied by two juveniles who were sent to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Their identities have not been released due to their age.
Witnesses told deputies that the Volkswagen Jetta was attempting to pass an eastbound stopped bus at the time of the collision.
This incident remains under investigation.
