Mason City, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, the fatal crash occurred right after 11 p.m. late Monday night.
It happened near the intersection of 265th Street and Yarrow Avenue.
Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding troopers discovered that the 58-year-old driver, later identified as Timothy Hoy, was traveling eastbound when his Nissan Altima crossed the center line and hit a Pontiac G5 head-on.
The 41-year-old driver of the Pontiac G5, later identified as Stephen Miles, suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two juvenile passengers in the Pontiac G5 suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
