Cedar Falls, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 20-year-old defendant has been convicted of first degree murder and first degree robbery. His name is Keyon Roby and he was convicted on Friday, prosecutors said. According to the court documents, the 20-year-old defendant, along with two other accomplices, entered the victim’s apartment on December 4th, 2019. The 24-year-old victim was reportedly shot three times by the defendant. Muscatine, IOWA – According to the city officials, all grave decorations were to be removed by Monday, March 14, 2022, according to cemetery staff. Remaining grave decorations will be removed and discarded by cemetery staff after that date. City officials have announced that grave decorations include, but are not limited to, wreaths, silk flowers, grave blankets, wooden crosses, toys, cobblestones, and potted plants. Undecorated metal shepherd’s hooks and Remembrance Vigil Candles and Solar Lights will not be removed. Dubuque County, IOWA – DCSO said the 47-year-old inmate was reportedly found unresponsive in his jail cell Friday. His name is Virgil Polkinghorn Jr. and he was taken to a hospital, where he later died. According to the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and a nurse reportedly performed CPR and used a portable defibrillator.  The 47-year-old inmate was being held on a $1,000 cash bond for a misdemeanor assault charge. Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, the law goes into effect immediately. Officials said that the bill includes both high school and collegiate levels, and requires schools to designate sporting events as male, female or co-ed. According to the state officials, only students who are female according to birth certificate will be eligible to play girls sports. The bill is crucial to keep transgender women from taking away athletic opportunities from cisgender women. Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, the shooting occurred around 9:09 p.m. Thursday night. It happened on Walker Street. Des Moines Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found one adult male victim. Police said the 34-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. Bettendorf, IOWA – According to the Bettendorf Police Department, the 40-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. His name is Shaun Powell and he faces multiple charges, including: controlled-substance violation, failure to affix a drug stamp and control of a firearm by a felon. The 40-year-old suspect was arrested following traffic stop. The responding officer reportedly found 10 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and a gun.  Powell reportedly admitted he traded a heater for a gun on Facebook Marketplace. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, this unfortunate accident occurred right before 3 p.m. Thursday. It happened on East Kimberly Road. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash. The responding officers discovered that vehicle and motorcycle crashed at the location. The 65-year-old motorcyclist attempted to turn north into the Harbor Freight parking lot when it failed to yield to oncoming traffic. He was struck by a westbound Chevrolet Silverado, police officials said. The 65-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. No charges have been filed. Des Moines County, IOWA – According to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate incident occurred around 5:09 p.m. Monday. It happened in rural Mediapolis. The responding deputies and first responders reportedly found two victims. The first responders found 69-year-old Michael Vaughn clinging to the ice and pulled him to safety. They pulled 71-year-old Patrick Vaughn from the water after about 90 minutes of searching. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead.
