Local man found guilty of homicide by vehicle while DUI in death of 40-year-old bicyclist

Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 33-year-old defendant was found guilty Thursday, court records say.

His name is Bobby Hunt Jr. and he was found guilty of homicide by vehicle-operating under the influence, homicide by vehicle-reckless driving, operating while under the influence third offense and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Prosecutors said Hunt Jr. will be sentenced on May 11.

This unfortunate accident occurred on June 3, 2021. It happened near the intersection of Kimberly Road and Davenport Avenue.

The 40-year-old victim was reportedly killed and the vehicle that struck him fled the scene.

The victim was later identified as Alex Marietta.

Investigators discovered that the defendant was speeding, failed to stop at a red light at the intersection, and collided with the 40-year-old victim, who reportedly had the right of way.
