Bernard, IOWA – According to the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 2 p.m. Thursday. It happened at 159 Laban Road. Bernard Fire and EMS, Farley Fire Department and Cascade Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire. The responding crews discovered that a barn and several pieces of farm equipment had sustained damage from the fire. They were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the shooting occurred right before 3 p.m. Thursday. It happened in the 300 block of 31st Street Drive SE. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. The responding officers found one male victim. Police said the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s age or identity have not yet been released. Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Leon-Laquan Dwyone Simpson and he was taken into custody on Thursday. The 20-year-old man is now facing a felony charge of control of a firearm by a felon and an aggravated misdemeanor charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, the Employer Innovation Fund awards will reportedly help 3,542 Iowans earn non-credit and for-credit credentials that will enable them to obtain or maintain high-demand jobs. The Future Ready Iowa Employer Innovation Fund awards grants that can be used to cover the cost of training and education supplies, as well as to provide much needed wrap-around services addressing other barriers that some Iowans face when trying to obtain skilled training. According to reports, the man reportedly survived a double lung transplant and two battles with COVID-19. The man needed a wheelchair to move and was confined to his home, taking 40 pills a day. Two brothers and a friend are accused of beating 42-year-old man and leaving him to die in a field. The three Texas teenagers are facing a host of charges in the Thursday beating where the victim’s body was found by a farmer. 18-year-old Alejandro Trevino, 17-year-old Christian Trevino, and 18-year-old Juan Eduardo Melendez have since been arrested. Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, this unfortunate accident occurred around 11:47 p.m. late Tuesday night. It happened in the 5800 block of Fleur Drive. The responding officers discovered that two vehicles crashed at the location. According to the police reports, Cadillac Escalade turned south onto Fleur Drive and was struck by a southbound Chrysler Pacifica. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Two passengers in the Cadillac Escalade also suffered injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
