Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, this is part of a $27 billion investment from the bipartisan infrastructure plan. State officials say that, in Iowa, there are more than 4,500 bridges considered structurally deficient. The president-elect of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Maria Lehman, released the following statement: “We’re going to have a lot of cones, a lot of orange cones out there for the next five years. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, his name is Jared Youngbear and he was arrested on Friday. The 26-year-old suspect is now charged with attempted murder, willful injury and assault domestic abuse with a weapon with serious injury. This incident occurred right before 4 a.m. early Friday morning. It happened in the 4000 block of Wilson Avenue SW. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a report of stabbing. A 72-year-old man battling lymph node cancer was berated by a judge for failing to maintain his yard, despite informing the judge that his medical treatments left him too weak to do yard work. The man was diagnosed with cancer in his lymph nodes in 2019. His health deteriorated not just from the cancer, but also a heart issue and high blood pressure. Meanwhile, his wife also struggled with health issues after falling down the stairs and hurting her back. Benton County, IOWA – According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, this incident occurred right before 1 p.m. Wednesday. It happened in the 1500 block of 70th St.  Benton County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a Ford Mustang, but the driver failed to stop and drove up to speeds of 90 mph. The driver tried turning onto a gravel road at 13th Ave, causing the car to rollover in a ditch. His name is Slayne Rayman and he was arrested. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 6 p.m. Wednesday. It happened in the 1900 block of Mt. Vernon Rd. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call. The responding officers discovered that three male individuals engaged in a physical altercation with another male inside the store. Woodbury County, IOWA – According to the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office, this incident occurred around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday. It happened at the Woodford Mobile Home Park located at 501 B St. Woodbury County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress. The responding deputies discovered that the suspect was reportedly forcing his way into a mobile home. The unidentified subject reportedly advanced toward deputies with a tire iron. Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is McKinsley Watson and he was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The 38-year-old defendant was sentenced on Wednesday, court records say. Watson must serve 70% of the sentence before he is eligible for parole. According to the court documents, Watson must pay $150,000 in restitution. The 38-year-old defendant pleaded guilty in October to second-degree murder. In May 2020, the responding officers found the defendant standing on the front stoop of the building. When the 53-year-old man attempted to break up a fight between his son and his fiancée, his own child beat him to death with a golf club. This week, a jury found the 29-year-old son guilty of second-degree murder which unfolded back in 2019. The defendant was also convicted of domestic assault and armed criminal action.
