Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after midnight early Thursday morning. It happened in the 3800 block of Kenwood Ave. Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire. Six apparatus and one command vehicle responded to the incident with a total of 19 personnel, officials said. Dubuque, IOWA – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred around 11:09 p.m. late Tuesday night. It happened on Jackson Street. Dubuque Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found one adult male victim. Police said the victim suffered a single gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The victim’s age or identity have not yet been released. Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, Major Jeffery Bladel will succeed Davenport Police Chief Paul Sikorski following his retirement in August.  Officials also said that Major Jeffery Bladel has served as the Assistant Chief of Police since 2016. Family of a man, who died while in jail for not wearing a mask on a bus during the pandemic, has now filed a lawsuit against the County, claiming that the prison staff denied him medications he needed. The complaint says the family is seeking a jury trial. Prior to his incarceration, the 45-year-old man was regularly taking a number of prescribed medications for high blood pressure, diabetes, and schizophrenia. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – CRPD officials said the 24-year-old suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Thursday, July 7. His name is Skylar Strawn and he is now charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Barred, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.
