Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the shooting occurred around 1:15 a.m. Thursday. It happened in the 2500 block of 1st Avenue East. Cedar Rapids Police Department officeres responded to a shooting call. The responding officers discovered that the 23-year-old victim walked into a hospital with a gunshot wound. Police said the victim suffered not life-threatening injuries. The victim’s age or identity have not yet been released. No suspects have been arrested yet. This incident remains under investigation. Plymouth County, IOWA – According to the Le Mars Police Department, this unfortunate accident occurred right after 5 p.m. Tuesday. It happened in the 100 block of 5th Avenue SW in Le Mars. Le Mars Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash. The responding officers discovered that Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on 5th Avenue SW. The 10-year-old boy was traveling westbound from the sidewalk area when he was struck by the Corolla. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The 24-year-old mother and her boyfriend were arrested and taken into custody on Nov. 14. Both suspects are arrested after the woman’s 2-year-old daughter was killed. Prosecutors said the child suffered brain trauma. During an interview, the mother told investigators that she used meth in the bathroom before she woke up to feed her daughter. She also told investigators that she and her boyfriend regularly left the toddler by herself while they go out to purchase or use drugs. Despite not wanting to draw attention to himself, a Missouri man is being called a hero for catching a 3-year-old who was dropped from a second-floor window during an apartment fire. According to reports, the 30-year-old man also helped save the toddler’s mother and grandmother. First came a three-year-old child. He caught her in his arms. Then came the child’s mother. The man helped her climb down from the window. Finally, he assisted the woman’s mother to safety. A fire broke out Monday morning at the apartment complex, officials said. Scott County, IOWA – According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, his name is Shane Bostrom and he is charged with first-degree murder in the June 10 shooting death of 28-year-old Jessica Bostrom. On June 10, Eldridge Police Department officers, Scott County Sheriff’s deputies and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to the 300 block of West Davenport Street on a report of a shooting. The responding officers found the 28-year-old victim in the residence. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 11 p.m. Sunday. It happened in the 4500 block of South Concord Street. Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire. The callers informed there was smoke and fire showing from the building. The responding crews said that the building was vacant, but no occupants were on scene. The fire was fought from the exterior due to fire and building conditions, officials said. West Des Moines, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is Jon Schwartz and he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Prosecutors said the 62-year-old defendant was found guilty of causing serious injury by vehicle in November 2020. The defendant was drunk, speeding and watching a movie when he plowed into Officer Kaufman. Prosecutors said the WDMPD officer was standing next to a vehicle he had stopped along Interstate 35. According to the court documents, the 47-year-old woman from Texas is now charged with the death of a 38-year-old woman from Missouri. Prosecutors said the mother of three died after receiving an illegal silicone injection. The suspect reportedly admitted to injecting the silicone and said that she is not licensed to perform the procedure. She also said that she knew the risks of conducting the procedure incorrectly, prosecutors said.
