North Liberty, IOWA – According to the state officials, Sergeant John Williams’ funeral is being held at Grace Community Church in North Liberty on Monday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m.  Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 3 a.m. early Wednesday morning. It happened on Mississippi Ave.  Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire. The Davenport Fire Department responded with five apparatus and one command vehicle for a total response of 16 personnel. The responding crews saw flames coming from the top of the building. Crews attacked the fire from the interior and exterior, cutting a hole in the roof to gain access for extinguishment. The fire was under control in approximately 20 minutes but crews remained on…

Linn County, IOWA – Linn County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred right after 8 p.m. Tuesday night. It happened at Stoney Point Road and Covington Road. Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, Lin County Sheriff’s Rescue, Palo Fire Department crews and Area Ambulance responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash. The responding deputies discovered that a black Chevrolet Cruze was northbound on Stoney Point Road and left the roadway. The 29-year-old driver, later identified as Bile Athumani, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Athumani’s vehicle was the only vehicle involved. Mapleton, IOWA – State officials said that this program was reportedly instituted by statute to help rural communities with populations of 5,000 or less remove environmental hazards, improve community appearance and minimize costs by recycling and reusing building materials through deconstruction or renovation of abandoned, derelict buildings. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 32-year-old defendant was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin, four counts of distributing controlled substances (heroin, fentanyl, and another synthetic form of fentanyl called acetyl fentanyl), and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
