Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, $250,000 in matching funds will be made available to state and local governments, schools and volunteer organizations, and service organizations in the 27 Iowa counties included in the 2020 Governor’s Derecho Disaster Proclamation for planting trees. One week after the baby was born, his parents noticed that something was wrong. The child, who was a born a healthy full-term baby, wasn’t eating and had redness on his chest, his mom said. The baby boy reportedly came home to a loving family and 2 year old sister. Ten days later he was rushed to the children’s hospital with seizures. Unfortunately, the newborn baby stopped breathing as they arrived. Allamakee County, IOWA – According to the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred right before 9 p.m. late Friday night. It happened on Rossville Road. Allamakee County Sheriff’s deputies, Waukon Police Department officers, Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance personnel, Waukon Fire Department crews and Allamakee County Emergency Management responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle. The responding deputies discovered that the 41-year-old motorcyclist, later identified as Matthew Sweeney, struck the rear end of a vehicle. The 41-year-ol man was thrown off his motorcycle. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the court documents, a jury convicted the 33-year-old defendant on two counts of robbery in the first degree, two counts of willful injury, theft in the first degree and impersonating a public official.  On Jan. 9, 2022, the 33-year-old defendant, Brandon Lee, reportedly displayed a badge and posed as an officer at the home of 73-year-old Joseph Henderson and 72-year-old Sandra Henderson. The defendant then violently attacked Mr. and Mrs. Henderson, causing Mr. Henderson to suffer serious injuries, including facial fractures, and Mrs. Henderson to sustain a deep laceration to her head, court records say.…

Linn County, IOWA – According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the single-vehicle crash occurred right after 3 a.m. early Thursday morning. It happened on Highway 30 just west of Highway 100. Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, Fairfax Fire Department crews and Area Ambulance personnel responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash. The responding officers discovered that the 29-year-old driver of Honda Civic, later identified as Tyler Reynolds, was driving westbound on Highway 30, lost control of the vehicle and rolled in the median. Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, this incident occurred right after 3 a.m. early Saturday morning. It happened on Mississippi Ave. Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire. The responding crews saw moderate smoke and fire on the outside of the house that extended into the attic. All six occupants were out of the structure when the fire department arrived. Crews were able to rescue two dogs, one lizard and a hamster. The responding crews were able to extinguish the blaze in just 90 minutes.
