Davenport, IOWA – This unfortunate accident occurred around 7:15 p.m. Friday. It happened in the 4400 block of North Pine Street. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash. Police say the motorcyclist was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. He then lost control of the motorcycle, left the roadway and hit a tree. Police say the 51-year-old motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Walford, IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is Jonathan Hefflefinger and police say he surrendered himself to Linn County Deputies. The 21-year-old man was taken into custody at the Linn County Correctional Center. Authorities say the bank robbery happened at the Central State Bank in Walford. Davenport, IOWA – His name is Hunter Robert Jones IV and he is charged with four felonies. Prosecutors say the 25-year-old defendant is charged with: first-degree criminal mischief; first-degree robbery; second-degree theft and second-degree eluding. He is also charged with 3 misdemeanors: disobeyed traffic device, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an accident. IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred right before 3 p.m. Wednesday. It happened at the offramp from U.S. Highway 63 to U.S. Highway 18 west of Fredericksburg. Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash. Hyundai Accent was exiting from Highway 63 to Highway 18, but did not yield at the stop sign. The eastbound semi-truck struck the Hyundai. Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred Wednesday. It happened at 211 21st Avenue Southwest. Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. Investigators discovered that two suspects got out of their vehicle, fired shots at another man and fled the area. According to the police officials, the man who was shot at also fled the area. No one was injured in this incident. Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, face coverings will be mandatory for staff, students and anyone else in a district building. Officials say that their decision was based at least in part on U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that say all people should wear a mask indoors in areas of high COVID-19 transmission. Iowa schools have been barred from mandating masks by Gov. Reynolds until last week, when a judge halted the ban pending a new lawsuit on behalf of parents in several Iowa communities.
