Fire crews respond to condominium fire on 37th Avenue Southwest

Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

It happened in the 3600 block of 37th Avenue Southwest.

Cedar Rapids Fire Department crews responded to a report of a condominium fire.

The responding crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

Two people, 14-year-old boy and 74-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

Cedar Rapids Fire Department officials said the fire caused extensive smoke damage.

The cause of fire remains under investigation.
