Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, Governor Reynolds ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff immediately to sunset on October 22, 2021 in honor and remembrance of Colin Powell.
This order applies to state-owned properties, including the Capitol Complex in Des Moines.
Flags will also be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.
Officials say that private citizens are encouraged to participate in the remembrance of Powell, according to the governor’s office.
President Joe Biden had issued a similar order for federal properties during the same time period.
