Local resident sentenced to 5 years probation in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left 60-year-old man dead

Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 64-year-old defendant was sentenced on Wednesday.

His name is Mark Blackwood and he was sentenced to 5 years probation in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left 60-year-old Eric Johnson dead.

The fatal accident occurred in Jan, 2021. 

Davenport Police Department officers responded to the 2600 block of Fillmore for an unresponsive man.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the suspect’s vehicle was driving north on Washington Street when it struck Johnson. 

The next day, officers located the defendant’s vehicle in the 1300 block of West Garfield Street. 

Prosecutors said the defendant knew or should have reasonably known that he struck a person.
