Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, his name is McKinsley Watson and he was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The 38-year-old defendant was sentenced on Wednesday, court records say.
Watson must serve 70% of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.
According to the court documents, Watson must pay $150,000 in restitution.
The 38-year-old defendant pleaded guilty in October to second-degree murder.
In May 2020, the responding officers found the defendant standing on the front stoop of the building.
He reportedly told them there was an unresponsive woman inside the apartment.
The responding officers found the 59-year-old victim, Victoria Watson, unresponsive and with a cover over her face.
