Police: 17-year-old boy shot, injured on McKinley Ave after verbal altercation

Davenport, IOWA – Police officials said the shooting occurred right before 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

It happened in the 2700 block of McKinley Ave.

Davenport Police Department officers responded to the location in reference to the report of shots fired with a subject down suffering from a gunshot wound.

The responding officers reportedly found one juvenile victim.

Police said the 17-year-old male victim was suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation indicates that a verbal altercation between multiple individuals escalated resulting in shots fired. 

Police said that the Hayes Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown due to proximity to this incident.
