Scott County, IOWA – According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal accident occurred right before 11 p.m. late Sunday night.
It happened on Great River Road.
Scott County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash.
The responding deputies discovered that the 63-year-old driver of Cadillac CTS was traveling north on Great River Road when he lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle began to slide sideways off the road to the east, trip over and strike two trees and then land onto the passenger’s side.
SCSO officials said the victim’s vehicle landed approximately 50 to 60 feet from the roadway and down an embankment approximately 20 feet deep.
The 63-year-old male driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver’s name is being held pending family notification.
