Davenport, IA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, the speeding started at the beginning of the pandemic, due to less traffic and cars on the road.
And, despite more people being out on the roads, the speeding is only getting worse.
There are more traffic fatalities now compared to the same time last year.
Officials say that 165 people have died on Iowa roads this year.
Last year, that number was 159.
Speeding is a misdemeanor in Iowa, but drivers can face fines depending on how fast they were driving.
Dear Iowans, fines begin at $30. So, do yourselves a favor and drive safely.
