Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
It happened near the intersection of Walnut Street and 13th Street.
Man called 911 to report that someone attempted to stab him with a knife.
The responding officers arrived on scene and saw the suspect.
Police say the armed female suspect ignored the officers’ commands and started walking towards him.
The responding officer was forced to shoot the suspect.
Authorities say the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The responding officers was not injured.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating this incident.
