Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, his name is Jared Youngbear and he was arrested on Friday.
The 26-year-old suspect is now charged with attempted murder, willful injury and assault domestic abuse with a weapon with serious injury.
This incident occurred right before 4 a.m. early Friday morning.
It happened in the 4000 block of Wilson Avenue SW.
Cedar Rapids Police Department officers responded to a report of stabbing.
The responding officers found the 65-year-old victim suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
He was later identified as Jonathan Youngbear.
Police said the victim and his 26-year-old son reportedly got into a verbal altercation during which the suspect stabbed his father.
This incident remains under investigation.
