Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, Cpl. Kenneth Ford was reported missing in action during the Korean War on December 2, 1950. He was accounted for in September of 2019 through DNA analysis. Cpl. Ford is now returning home to Albia for burial, state officials said. Cpl. Fayette County, IOWA – According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred right after 11 a.m. Thursday morning. It happened on 200th St east of Acorn Rd. Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash. The responding deputies discovered that a 16-year-old driver was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on 200th St when the driver lost control and entered the north ditch and struck a large rock. Parents of a young boy claim a bully sent their 8-year-old son to the hospital and doctors were fighting to save the his leg after an injury at the elementary school. According to his family, the young student got up to look at the whiteboard and the bully, who was not identified due to his age, reportedly placed a pencil standing up, which the student kneeled directly onto. The pencil penetrated to the knee bone, fracturing it and leaving a bacterial infection under the muscle, the boy’s mom reportedly said. Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Richardson reportedly died as a result of injuries sustained in a crash while on duty. State officials said that Richardson’s funeral is being held at the Sidney High School on Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m.  Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Muscatine, IOWA – According to the city officials, this is the final major intersection of the Grandview Avenue Reconstruction Project with Heuer Construction. The Department of Public Works believes that the two-way traffic on Grandview will be restored by August 1, weather permitting. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 9 a.m. Friday morning. It happened in the 1500 block of W. 14th St. Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire. The responding crews discovered that there was moderate smoke emitting from multiple sides of the home and flames were seen exiting through a rear window. The 60-year-old White man, who claimed to be a trooper, reportedly followed a Black man and his son into the parking lot of a restaurant before he called them the ‘N-word’ and attempted to stab them with a box cutter. The victim, who is African American, slowed down to let another car pass in front of him in the afternoon, which caused a white motorist behind him to become enraged.
