Cedar Falls, IOWA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 10 p.m. Friday. It happened in the 5500 block of Peridot Road. Cedar Falls Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the victim exited his vehicle and was approached by several masked subjects who tried to rob him. The suspects then shot him in the lower half of his body. According to the statement, investigators believe that on Sunday, Sept. 5, the 78-year-old victim was murdered and buried in his own backyard by his 19-year-old son. Police say that the victim was last seen on Sunday and this was initially treated as a missing persons case. Police said a family member reported him missing on Monday. It took a few days of investigation, but police said the major breaks in the case and an arrest came swiftly. Danette is alive today because her son, who is legally blind, came to her rescue after she became trapped in flooded basement apartment. At least 52 people died when the remnants of Hurricane Ida swept through the Northeast. Many of those deaths were related to the immense amount of rain the region received in a short period of time which triggered a flash flood emergency. Davenport, IA – Davenport Police Department officials say the robbery occurred right before 3 p.m. Thursday. It happened at Ascentra Credit Union on 1800 Brady Street. Police say the suspect went inside and demanded money from a seller, indicating they were carrying a weapon. The suspect then left the credit union after getting an undisclosed amount of cash. Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 1 a.m. Thursday. It happened at the Happy Hollow Bar, 1502 W. 14th St. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of gunfire. When the officers arrived on scene, they found several spent shell casings. Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect, Kendrick Miller, displaying and pointing the firearm in several directions. Police found the gun in the path the suspect took to leave the scene. Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 11 a.m. Thursday. His name is Darnell Bonner and he was being discharged from the UIHC ER when he shoved a doctor into a wall. Police say the 39-year-old man was booked into the Johnson County Jail. He is charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If the 39-year-old man is convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail. According to the court documents, prosecutors say that the 15-year-old teen will not be indicted with murder for shooting his abusive father in the head and killing him. Grand jury made the announcement on Wednesday. Prosecutors say that the boy did not dispute that he shot 66-year-old father in the head with a rifle back in October 2020. The boy said that the reason he did it was that “he had enough of his father abusing his mother.” His father’s, Wesley Jordan Gales, history of domestic violence and abuse, against both family members, was well known to the authorities.
