CLINTON, Iowa – According to the court documents, his name is Ray Daytrel Hopkins and he pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of child pornography on April 9 and admitted to knowingly possessing the pictures and videos. Hopkins was sentenced Tuesday.  The 45-year-old man was arrested after an SD card that belonged to him was turned over to the authorities. Police say the SD card contained multiple videos of nude minors. Investigators also found sexually explicit pictures of minors on his phone as well. The 45-year-old man was also ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison term.

Davenport, IA – According to the health officials, there have been 6,268 COVID-19 related deaths in Iowa since the pandemic began. The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 7,619 new COVID-19 cases in the last seven days. 432,982 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began. The Iowa Department of Public Health says that there are currently 498 Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19. 17,829 Iowans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, for a total of 1,593,557. The speed limit is 25 miles per hour from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to the police officials, the first time a driver speeds in a school zone, the maximum fine is $150 and the second time it’s a maximum fine of $300. Police say the 21-year-old man is also facing other charges from other incidents. The suspect is being held in the Johnson County Jail. Davenport, IA – According to the court documents, his name is Charlie Gary and he was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Robert Long in January 2020. Officials say that the 20-year-old man was also convicted of robbery, burglary and abuse of a corpse. Prosecutors say the defendant strangled the 74-year-old man and abused his body before stealing the car and other items. According to the police officials, the 25-year-old man has been charged with killing his ex-girlfriend and her uncle earlier this month. Prosecutors say that the man was on probation for three domestic assault charges at the time of the shootings.  His name is Lavelle D. 19-year-old mother high on drugs drowned her 11-month-old baby son while taking a bath with the baby. She was taken into custody on Friday, July 30, and charged with second-degree felony murder and second-degree child cruelty over the death of her 11-month old child.
