Johnson County, IOWA – According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the focus will be on Highway 1 in rural Johnson County. JCSO officials said that the Memorial Day weekend is historically one of the deadliest holidays for travel in Iowa and driving behaviors that lead to this increased risk are distracted driving, impaired drivers, aggressive driving and excessive speed. Davenport, IOWA – According to the statement, the Western Iowa Tech Community College was awarded a $1 million grant to increase access to career academy programs in high-demand fields through a new regional center in Denison. Western Iowa Tech’s grant will be used to create a new regional center in Denison that will serve students from five rural districts.
