Davenport, IA – According to the statement, Gov. Reynolds said she wants to ban girls who are transgender from competing in girls sports in school. Five states have already signed similar bills into law, but a gender rights advocate says this legislation isn’t necessary. Iowa Safe Schools is an organization that supports LGBTQ youth. Gov. Reynolds said that she wants all female athletes to have the same opportunities.  There were two bills introduced earlier in this legislative session on transgender sports bans, but they didn’t pass.

Davenport, IA – The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 389 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths.  The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 395,738 total positive tests, 349,005 total recoveries and 5,959 total deaths since the pandemic began.  State data shows 1,103,302 Iowans have completed a vaccine series in the state, while 2,390,239 vaccine doses have been administered. The number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 increased from 181 to 195. There are 48 patients in ICU and 23 patients on ventilators.

IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is James Thiel and he is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless use of a watercraft, and other charges. The incident occurred on August 16, 2020 on the Mississippi River that killed Anita Pinc and Craig Verbeke. The 44-year-old man turned himself in Tuesday morning. Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near 41st Street and 12th Avenue. The officer was traveling southbound in the 1100 block of 34th Street when the squad car struck the victim on a bicycle just south of 11th Avenue. The child was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Moline Police Department will conduct a separate Internal Affairs investigation to review policies, procedures and actions of the department personnel. A distraught mother from Texas says that employees at a local daycare center are responsible for breaking her baby’s arm. The mother alleges that her 3-month-old girl was left seriously injured while in their care. As per reports, Jenkins is said to have dropped her daughter off at the Children Lighthouse Daycare for the first time on April 2. The mom was returning to her job as a 2nd grade teacher after time off for maternity leave. A 14-year-old boy has been held in the murder of a six-year-old child from northern Indiana. The boy, who remains unidentified, strangled the little girl to death and claimed that he was controlled by a “shadowy man” who instructed him to kill the girl. He has been accused of child molestation and murder of the little girl. The girl was reported as missing in New Carlisle and her body was later found in the wooded area near Chapman Drive. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Iowa has fully vaccinated just over 1 million people. That is 32% of the population. Iowa Department of Public Health said that the decrease in demand is being seen in several other states. The health officials are working with community leaders to understand the source of the resistance. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health vaccination dashboard, 2,309,070 total COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Iowa.

IOWA – According to the police officials, Joseph and Marlana Richardson are facing multiple charges related to the incident which was first reported to police in January 2021. Marlena is charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor. Joseph is being held in Rock Island County Jail on a felony charge for Harassment of a Witness and a misdemeanor charge of Sexual Exploitation of a Child.  The case is still under investigation.
