Davenport, IA – According to the police officials, Mercer County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on Illinois 17 just west of Aledo. A police dog was used to sniff the vehicle, and the dog picked up a scent of methamphetamine. Her name is Rebecca M. Anders and she is charged in Mercer County Circuit Court with one count of possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony under Illinois law that carries a prison sentence of 2-5 years. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 30 in Mercer County Circuit Court.

The state is reporting a total of 344,909 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and 5,672 people have died with the virus since the pandemic began. Davenport, IOWA – According to the court documents, a Lake County judge sentenced the 25-year-old Dontrall Jer’i Phillips of Davenport. The judge accepted the guilty plea to a murder charge under a plea agreement that calls for prosecutors to drop a robbery charge. Phillips was one of four people charged in the April 2015 shooting death of 21-year-old Donald Fuzzell of Calumet Park, Illinois, during a botched robbery in the parking lot of a Gary gas station.
