DAVENPORT – Even with one more high school volleyball season remaining, Kora Ruff has a closet full of accolades. The 5-foot-8 setter became the school’s career leader in assists this season surpassing the previous mark of 1,692 by Payton Strawser. Ruff has 2,312 assists and 580 digs going into her senior season. Ruff was named the Mississippi Athletic Conference player of the year, first team all-district and first team all-state in Class 5A by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.  Iowa – A woman was arrested in Henry County on drug charges. Officials with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office say they executed a search warrant in the 100 block of South Haynes Street in Mount Pleasant on December 9. The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics. As a result of the investigation and warrant, officials say 48-year-old Melissa Stein, of Mount Pleasant, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and gathering where controlled substances were used. DAVENPORT, IOWA – Recent gunfire cases have Davenport homeowners concerned. Since the beginning of November, Local 4 News has responded to more than 16 shots-fired calls in Davenport. One neighbor tells us it makes him feel uneasy because he has heard gunshots ring out too often near his home. “It’s out of control. It’s gotten really bad. DAVENPORT, Iowa – Katie Styrt has been with First Presbyterian Church in Davenport for three years and said that she was hoping to avoid a Christmas service with the pandemic still raging. “Trying to figure out Easter with COVID was hard but by the time we had gotten to Christmas we were really hoping that things could be different,” she said. DAVENPORT, IOWA – U.S. Attorney John Milhiser and FBI Springfield Special Agent in Charge Sean M. Cox announced that nine men previously arrested in Rock Island have been indicted on charges of attempted enticement of a child to engage in sexual activity. In addition, several of the defendants have also been charged with related crimes including travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual activity and soliciting images of child pornography. Iowa – Three eastern Iowa men have been sentenced to a combined total of 64 years in prison for child sex trafficking. “The defendants in these cases were buyers and sellers of children in our community,” a statement Wednesday from Marc Krickbaum, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, reads. “They exploited vulnerable teenage girls for their own sexual gratification, and collectively they will serve many decades in federal prison.
