Iowa –  Iowa Democrat Rita Hart is officially contesting Iowa’s Second Congressional District election, asking the House of Representatives to recount ballots and arguing that she would have won but for lawful votes left uncounted. Hart ran against Republican state Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks in November’s election, and the state’s election officials certified the Republican’s narrow victory, by just six votes, late last month. DAVENPORT, Iowa – Davenport Police are currently looking for a male suspect in a shots-fired situation. About a half-dozen squad cars are investigating a vehicle parked in a basketball court of LeClaire Heights Park on the intersection of E. 10th St. and Sylvan Ave. Police say the last-known whereabouts of the suspect is on foot going southbound on Sylvan Ave. carrying a garbage bag. DAVENPORT – A fire heavily damaged a Davenport furniture store Tuesday afternoon. The structure was a one-story commercial building with a large showroom. Crews began an aggressive exterior attack on the fire and ventilation holes were cut into the roof. Once the fire was knocked down, an interior attack was used to extinguish the remaining fire. Due to the size and progression of the fire, an additional truck company and command staff responded.
