Howard County, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, the fatal accident occurred right before 11 p.m. late Saturday night. It happened on Willow Avenue. Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash. The responding troopers discovered that the 18-year-old driver of Pontiac G6 lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway. Iowa City, IOWA – According to the court documents, the 23-year-old defendant pleaded guilty in Friday. His name is Sammy Hamed and he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Prosecutors said the 23-year-old defendant was initially charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 12, 2021 death of Quincy Russom. The defendant reportedly shot the 19-year-old victim during a robbery. Prosecutors said the defendant was one of several individuals inside the apartment when the 19-year-old victim was shot. It happened at the intersection of Highway 13 and County Home Rd. Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash. The school district reportedly fired the assistant principle at an elementary school after the educator read a children’s book to a second-grade class. The education administrator said that he used to read the book at his previous school and didn’t think twice about sharing it with the second-graders. The superintendent of the school district wrote in his termination letter that the educator reportedly showed a lack of professionalism and impaired judgment when he picked the book.
