Cedar Rapids, IOWA – According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department officials, this incident occurred around 12:17 a.m. early Sunday morning. It happened in the 300 block of 5th Avenue Southeast. Cedar Rapids Fire Department crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire.  The responding crews saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the 9th floor that quickly spread to the 10th.  Firefighters reportedly used a combination of external firefighting apparatus including high-rise ladders, and suppression systems in the building to attack the fire. Ames, IOWA – Ames Police Department officials said the fatal stabbing occurred around 2:51 a.m. early Saturday morning.  It happened on 7th Street. Ames Police Department officers responded to a report of a stabbing. The responding officers found one adult male victim. Police said the 39-year-old victim suffered severe stab wounds and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died. He was later identified as Maccarone Declements. Bettendorf, IOWA – According to the city officials, there is no change to collection services. Officials have announced that the City of Bettendorf will provide garbage, bulky waste and recycling collection services on February 21. All items should be placed at collection sites no later than 6:00 a.m.   Transit will operate on its normal schedule, officials said. The library will be open 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and the Life Fitness Center will be open 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. More information here. Davenport, IOWA – The 24-year-old defendant was sentenced to 140 months in federal prison on drug and weapon charges. His name is Aaron Wadden and he was sentenced on Thursday. Prosecutors said the 24-year-old defendant will also serve four years of supervised release once he completes his sentence.  Wadden pleaded guilty in October to gun and drug charges. He was sentenced to prison for trafficking methamphetamine and possessing a firearm related to his drug trafficking. His name is Leonard Fisher Jr. and he is now charged with one count each of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. The charges stem from Jan. 29 incident. Sioux City, IOWA – Sioux City Police Department officials said the shooting occurred on Monday. It happened at the intersection of Riverside Blvd. and W. 19th Street. Sioux City Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. The responding officers reportedly found shell casings and security camera video of the vehicles involved. Everyone involved had fled the area, police said. Investigators believe that an unidentified suspect in a Nissan Versa fired several shots at another unidentified person in Ford Escape.
