Iowa woman was arrested for allegedly hitting and throwing a 1-year-old child, causing a skull fracture and brain bleeds

Moline, IOWA – According to the court documents, her name is Nia Imani Montanez and she is being held in the Rock Island County Jail.

She is being held on a $100,000 bond.

The 22-year-old woman allegedly struck the child in the head and threw the child sometime between Nov. 1, 2020, and Feb. 24, 2021.

Montanez was charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a child, a Class X felony that carries a prison sentence of between six and 30 years.

She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on June 22.
