Suspect arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Davenport earlier this month

Davenport, IOWA – According to the Davenport Police Department, his name is Lance Johnson and he is charged with first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Authorities say the 28-year-old suspect was arrested in Rock Island by the Davenport and Rock Island police departments.

The shooting occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 17.

It happened at 5220 Grand Ave.

Davenport Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.

The responding officers found one male victim.

Police say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.

He was later identified as 35-year-old Samuel Wires.
