Linn County, IOWA – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 10 a.m. Saturday morning. It happened on Iowa Highway 1, south of Mount Vernon. Toyota Camry, traveling southbound, crossed the road’s centerline and crashed head-on into a semi-truck. The 22-year-old driver of the car was killed in the crash. His name is Kyle Goodell and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. This incident is still under investigation. Fort Dodge, IOWA – According to the police officials, his name is Justice Bernston and he is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Angel Bastman. The 23-year-old man was arrested Thursday at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. Bernston bond was set at $1 million. Another, 26-year-old suspect, was charged earlier with first-degree murder in the woman’s death. Her body was found December 22 at her home. Muscatine, IA – According to the court documents, his name is David Hatfield and he was sentenced Friday. Hatfield was sentenced to life in prison without parole. The 24-year-old man was ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to the estate of Kaitlyn Palmer. Hatfield admitted to shooting Palmer. He was convicted of first-degree murder in June. According to the police officials, the 34-year-old man confronted his 14-year-old daughter’s boyfriend after the boy used a ladder to sneak into his house on July 18. The father and the 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, exchanged gunfire. The man was alerted to the boy’s presence by a neighbor who saw the ladder. Both were armed, though it was not clear who fired the first shot. The 34-year-old man, Dezmon Hamilton died in the hospital. The 17-year-old boy (cannot be named because of his age) was injured, but survived. As per reports, the 51-year-old man helped to rescue the baby in question from an icy pond, before then attacking the man responsible and telling him he deserved to die. He pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday after being indicted on a single count of violating Jonathon Zicarelli’s civil rights in 2019. According to sources, Zicarelli walked into the Greenwood police station in December 2018, and told officers he had tried to drown his 6-month-old daughter in a pond. They will be on house arrest with GPS monitoring pending their trial.
