Davenport, IA – According to the police report, the officers responded to a shooting call around 8:10 p.m. on March 8. When the officers arrived on scene, the incident was over. They were able to found a person with a gunshot wound in a nearby apartment, as well as spent shell casings. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. This incident is under investigation. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, the Genesis Health Group is consolidating its Iowa vaccination efforts into one clinic at former Dick’s Sporting Goods at 5250 Elmore Avenue on March 23, 2021. The new vaccination clinic will allow Genesis to vaccinate more Scott County patients in a shorter period of time, the group said in a statement. Davenport, IA – According to the statement, shortly after noon there was an anonymous threat called into the school, which prompted a lockdown of the entire campus. The officials were contacted and conducted an investigation of the building and surrounding community. Police were contacted Saturday morning after the body of 19-year-old Rosalee Sanchez was discovered in a stairwell inside the building that once housed Manhattan’s Fulton Fish Market. Sanchez’s boyfriend and a friend found her body in a stairwell of the building at South Street and FDR Drive, where it was discovered wrapped in plastic, police sources told the outlet. Sanchez’s boyfriend, who police said was not considered a suspect, told detectives that she “had been led” to the warehouse weeks ago. IOWA – According to the statement, the food box giveaway will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 27 at Hawkeye Downs, located at 4400 6th Street SW. The event will be first-come, first-serve, but the nonprofit said it will provide 12,000 food boxes throughout the community. Volunteers can help by either placing food boxes into vehicles, or assisting with traffic control, or driving trucks to haul pallets and crates during the event. IOWA – The Iowa Department of Public Health made the announcement that those 64-years-old with medical conditions with increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 could start to sign up for the vaccine. Multiple counties expressed their concerns over the expansion and an eight-minute warning from the state before the announcement was made. Around 12 of 99 counties were done vaccinating their population 65 and over. Johnson County is not one of those counties beginning to vaccinate the next group.
