DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Moline man was injured in a shooting in Davenport Sunday night. The Davenport Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of Mound Street Dec. 20, 2020 just after 7 p.m., according to a statement from the department. Shots were fired from one vehicle into another vehicle, the statement said. A 29-year-old man was a passenger in the vehicle being shot at and suffered “serious, possible life-threatening injuries.” Officers are investigating the incident. DAVENPORT, Iowa — After 153 years, Davenport’s historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church will take on a new purpose, after the campus was purchased by the local nonprofit Humility Homes & Services. The church celebrated its final mass earlier this October, before its merger with St. Anthony’s in Davenport, citing dwindling finances, parish numbers, and available priests. “We were sad to see it close, but then also excited about what this means for us too,” said Ashley Velez, Executive Director of Humility Homes. DAVENPORT, IOWA – A cooking fire was the apparent cause of an apartment fire Friday in the 2300 block of Emerald Drive, Davenport. The fire began shortly after 1:30 a.m., a news release says. When crews arrived, they saw smoke in the northwest corner of a three-story apartment complex. Crews entered the apartment and quickly extinguished the fire. Firefighters evacuated the uppers floors of the complex because of light smoke. The occupant, who was displaced, was checked by Medic responders and refused further medical attention. All other occupants were able to return to their apartments. No injuries were reported.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Davenport furniture store saw a fire break out in its loading dock in the afternoon of Tuesday, December 15. The Davenport Fire Department was dispatched to Simply Amish Furniture in the 3700 block of N Harrison Street just after 1:30 p.m. Early reports said that the fire broke out in the business’s loading dock, and grew to a large size.  This was confirmed by Fire Chief Mike Carlsten.
