Davenport, IOWA – Police officials said the accident occurred around 1:09 a.m. early Friday morning. It happened on Locust Street. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash. The responding officers discovered that one of the vehicles crashed following chase with Iowa State Patrol Trooper. According to the Iowa State Patrol officials, Dantawn Cole is the suspect in the crash. Officials said Cole suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. A Massachusetts man was tragically killed in a car accident just weeks before welcoming his child. The heartwrenching incident unfolded on February 9 when the Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a car crash report between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck on the eastbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike a little after 9 a.m.  Officials said that the truck, which was driven by James Lucas, 35, had veered off the road and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer. Davenport, IOWA – Davenport Fire Department officials said this incident occurred right before 5 p.m. Thursday. It happened in the 3100 Block of West 66th Street. Davenport Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire. The responding crews saw smoke coming out of the chimney. Crews discovered that all residents left the home before they arrived on scene. They were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. Washington County, IOWA – Officials said this incident occurred right before 11 p.m. late Tuesday night. It happened on North Washington Street in Riverside. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and ISP troopers responded to a disturbance call. The responding officers made contact with the victim who reportedly told them that she was repeatedly hit and kicked and that her head had been slammed into the tile multiple times. Davenport, IOWA – According to the state officials, Governor Kim Reynolds signed the 2.5% per-pupil increase in House File 2316, which increases the total public education budget for the state by $159 million. State officials have announced that the total outlay in the fiscal year 2023 budget will exceed $3.6 billion. Total per-pupil funding will now be just over $7,400, up from $7,200 previously.
