Des Moines, IOWA – Des Moines Police Department officials said this unfortunate incident occurred right before 3 a.m. early Monday morning. It happened near SE 7th Street and E. MLK Parkway. Des Moines Police Department officers responded to a report of a crash. The responding officers found one adult male victim.  Police said the victim was lying in the street with life-threatening injuries.  The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he later died. Mount Pleasant, IOWA – Authorities say the 37-year-old suspect, James Seth Ollom, intentionally set fire to the inside of the residence after a family disturbance. The 37-year-old suspect man is now charged with first-degree arson and three counts of attempted murder. This incident occurred around 10:11 a.m. Sunday. It happened in the 1800-grid of Cornell Drive.  According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, all occupants inside the residence when the fire was set were able to escape the residence with only minor injuries. Many student activities and events will be postponed or held virtually during the first two weeks of the semester, but that does not include sports. Red Oak, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, this incident occurred around 7:09 a.m. Monday. It happened on N. Broadway Street in Red Oak. Red Oak officers were responding to an apartment fire when a patrol car hit a child in the road. Unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead. The victim’s age or identity have not yet been released. Officials said the victim was a student at the Inman Elementary School. This incident remains under investigation. Muscatine, IOWA – According to the Muscatine Fire Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right after 4 p.m. Sunday. It happened at 1309½ Hershey Avenue. Muscatine Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire.  The responding crews were able to extinguish the fire in just 10 minutes. Two residents were taken to a hospital for possible smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported, officials said. The grease fire on the stovetop was ruled accidental following an investigation by the Muscatine Fire Department. More information here. Davenport, IOWA – According to the police officials, her name is Wynter Jones and she was arrested on Saturday. The 31-year-old woman is now facing two charges of second-degree criminal mischief; second-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief, court records say. This incident occurred right after 3 a.m. Saturday. It happened in the 2700 block of Harrison Street. Davenport Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call. Iowa County, IOWA – According to the Iowa State Patrol, this unfortunate accident occurred right before 10 p.m. Monday. It happened on D Avenue. Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a crash. The responding troopers discovered that the driver left the roadway and crashed in a ditch near 170th Street. The 34-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead. She was later identified as Silei George. The responding troopers said the victim was wearing a seatbelt. Linn County, IOWA – According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortuante accident occurred right before 8 a.m. Saturday. It happened between the County Home Road and Center Point exits. Linn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash. The responding deputies discovered that one semi was traveling slow while climbing a hill, when another semi rear ended the slow moving truck.
