Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, the shooting occurred around 5:45 a.m. Friday. It happened in the 1600 block of Hull Avenue. Des Moines Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say the victim was later pronounced dead. He was identified as 21-year-old Kalvyn Roy Kline. Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a drug-related robbery. Authorities say a 27-year-old suspect, Darren Antwon Diggs, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in the shooting. He is being held…

Independence, IOWA – According to the Independence Police Department, this incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. It happened in the 1100 block of Second Street NE. Independence Police Department officers responded to a report of a medical emergency. The responding officers found a 29-year-old female who was unresponsive. Police say the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she later died.  No other details available at this time. This incident remains under investigation. According to the court documents, the 46-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in state prison for murdering his 29-year-old wife in February 2019. He strangled his wife to death and then burned her remains in a backyard shed. Prosecutors say the 46-year-old defendant discarded his wife’s remains, which were never recovered. According to the police officials, the 23-year-old mom was reading the Bible to her youngest daughter when a stray bullet entered her home and struck her in the head Sunday night. She died from her injuries Monday morning, police say. Fort Madison, IOWA – According to the Fort Madison Police Department, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 5 p.m. Tuesday. It happened in the 600 block of 6th Street. Police say the 21-year-old victim was stabbed in an upstairs hallway. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead. He was later identified as Antwan Lawrence Brewster. The suspect who assaulted him left on foot, police say. This incident remains under investigation. Bettendorf, IOWA – According to the statement, this incident occurred right before 3 a.m. early Thursday morning. It happened in the 2900 block of Glenn Street. Bettendorf Fire Department crews responded to a report of a house fire. The fire was quickly brought under control. Authorities say a resident was awakened by the smoke alarm. The resident then went to the neighbor’s house for help. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. According to the police officials, the 21-year-old man and his brother were both arrested authorities found the remains of his 17-year-old girlfriend wrapped in plastic and tape in the container, police announced Monday.
