Iowa City, IOWA – According to the city officials, these testing kits are available to the public on a weekly basis. Officials say that the testing kits will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The kits are supplied to the City by Johnson County Public Health and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Testing kits will be refurbished weekly as supplies allow. Those picking up a test kit must wear a face mask when entering the facility.  This story will be updated as new information become available.

Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, his name is Carter Woodruff and he is charged with assault causing bodily injury in connection with the Saturday incident. More charges could be added as the investigation progresses, authorities say. The 9-year-old girl was attending a swimming event at the Downtown YMCA when the assault happened. The 34-year-old suspect grabbed the victim by the arm and then pulled her to the ground before kneeling over her. According to the court documents, the 27-year-old defendant was found guilty on the charge of capital murder of a child under 10 in the 2019 death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter. He was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole on Wednesday. Prosecutors say the 2-year-old girl was beaten to death because she put her shoes on the wrong feet. The 2-year-old girl’s mother, Ashley Marie McAlpine, was charged with felony first-degree injury to a child with the intent to cause serious bodily injury. She’s pleaded not guilty. Black Hawk County, IOWA – According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, this unfortunate accident occurred right before 8 p.m. Saturday. It happened at the intersection of Iowa Highway 21 and E Tama Road. Black Hawk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a crash. The responding deputies discovered that Honda Accord and Infiniti QX6 collided. Authorities say the driver of the Honda Accord suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Des Moines, IOWA – According to the Des Moines Police Department, the shooting occurred around 5:45 a.m. Friday. It happened in the 1600 block of Hull Avenue. Des Moines Police Department officers responded to a shooting call. When the officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say the victim was later pronounced dead. He was identified as 21-year-old Kalvyn Roy Kline. Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a drug-related robbery. Independence, IOWA – According to the Independence Police Department, this incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. It happened in the 1100 block of Second Street NE. Independence Police Department officers responded to a report of a medical emergency. The responding officers found a 29-year-old female who was unresponsive. Police say the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, where she later died.  No other details available at this time. This incident remains under investigation.
